Texas Felony Voting Rights Restored After Sentence Completion

Recent Legal Changes and Implications

Understanding the Eligibility Criteria

Texas Election Code Section 11002 outlines the voting rights of individuals with felony convictions. Once a felon has successfully completed their punishment, including any probation or parole, they are eligible to register to vote.

However, it is crucial to note that this eligibility is contingent on the individual having completed the entire sentence, including any periods of incarceration. Furthermore, individuals currently serving a prison sentence or on probation or parole for a felony conviction are ineligible to vote.

For those with a pending felony criminal case, they are still eligible to vote as their conviction is not yet final.
