How to Manage Do Not Disturb with Focus Mode on Your iPhone or iPad

What is Do Not Disturb?

Do Not Disturb is a feature that silences calls, notifications, and alerts on your iPhone or iPad. It can be used to block distractions during certain times, such as when you're sleeping, working, or attending a meeting.

How to Turn Do Not Disturb On or Off

There are two ways to turn Do Not Disturb on or off:

  • From the Control Center: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center. Then, tap the Do Not Disturb icon.
  • From the Settings app: Go to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb. Then, tap the switch to turn Do Not Disturb on or off.

When Do Not Disturb is Turned On

When Do Not Disturb is turned on, it will:

  • Silence all incoming calls and notifications.
  • Block visual disturbances, such as the screen lighting up when you receive a notification.
  • Send incoming calls to voicemail.
  • Prevent your device from vibrating when you receive a notification.
Note: You can still receive emergency calls and notifications when Do Not Disturb is turned on.

How to Customize Do Not Disturb

You can customize Do Not Disturb to meet your specific needs. For example, you can:
